WELCOME TO TEAM MCVET!

The Back on My Feet MCVET team matches non-residential members with American veterans in transition.

The Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training (MCVET) serves more than 250 veterans daily, through five distinct programs: a day drop-in program, a 13-week emergency program, a transitional housing program that can last up to two years, a follow-up program, and with 80 single room occupancy apartments. A natural progression is to go from the day drop-in program to the emergency program, to the transitional housing program and then to SRO.

TEAM LEADER: PETER JACKSON

 Shoe size: 12

A relative newcomer to the running world, “Pretty” Peter MCVET Team Leader is a Baltimore native who originally heard about the BoMF organization while training for the Baltimore Marathon in 2008. Instantly enamored with its mission, he FundRaced on behalf of BoMF for entry into the Philly Marathon that same year and when Back on My Feet launched in Baltimore just a few short months later, Peter was on hand to serve as Team MCVET’s first training coach. He’s enjoyed every BoMF moment along the way since then, including coming together for the Serenity Prayer each and every morning, crossing the finish line at the Baltimore Running Festival alongside his teammates, dropping in for runs with other chapters in different cities, and he’s even had fun on those particularly cold winter predawn runs that seem to find every hill in the city.

When he can’t run with the team, Peter keeps himself busy working to help launch
GiveCorps, an online platform for connecting local non-profits with new supporters, moonlighting in the real estate and retail development industry, training for multi-sport events, eating his way to the top of the local competitive eating circuit, coaching ice hockey, and looking out for life’s next big adventure.

"Being able to be involved with a program like Back on My Feet here in Baltimore has been nothing short of a blessing for me. It's been truly inspiring to be a part of a team where all our members, both res and non-res alike, come out and work together each and every morning to move their lives forward. The relationships I've forged with my teammates, and the moments and accomplishments we've shared along the way have been among the best and most memorable I've had."

Featured Member Greg S

Greg has never been at a loss for nicknames. As a youngster, and the smallest and thinnest of his 4 brothers and 3 sisters, his family nicknamed him po’ boy. Since he’s been living in Maryland, he’s better known as Alabama, or RoadRunner. Whatever you call him though, you can’t help but respect the man, and the story behind the name.
